Keeping Track of Babs: Part 4

So mom´s first day here in Iquitos has come and gone. She´s finally resting now and I have a feeling she´ll sleep like a rock. But she was pretty energetic when we picked her up so we gave her a little tour of the neighborhood and the house. Then it was off to the supermarket. After that we had a big lunch at Texas restaurant where she ate good old American food, cheeseburger and fries. Tomorrow we´re gonna start her on the Peruvian food. But she did try her first taste of camu camu juice.

Then we took a walk on the boulevard near the river and checked out the arts and crafts market.

Then we took a walk over to the most luxurious hotel in Iquitos called the Hotel El Dorado. On the way we had to pass by some older buildings that have been decaying due to the weather. Mom is quickly learning that Iquitos is always a surprise. Sometimes a beautiful building is right next to an old decaying building. That´s just how is here.

Then it was off to the air base to check out the sunset and the planes.

Then Coco gave her a little tour of the the squad and briefing conference rooms on the air base.
