Tarapoto Part 3

On our last day we went on a tour to the Moyobamba region near Tarapoto. We had to drive up, and up, and up the mountains for about 2 hours. We followed the Rio Mayo for most of the journey. The area is famous for coffee and orchids. So our first stop was a beautiful place to swim where the beginning of the river starts. The water was freezing again but the water was so pure and clear we couldn´t help but enjoy it. It was truly a beautiful place.

Later we drove to a lookout point and then to the orchid garden.

Of course no orchid garden would be complete without a few alligators.

We had lunch by a lake.

We spent some time at some hotsprings.

On our way down the mountain we stopped at a coffee factory. Back in the heart of the city we tried a few ¨exotic chocolates.¨ These delicious chocolates came filled with special flavors like pisco, maracuya, and basil. They were amazing!

And that´s about all I have from Tarapoto. We had such a great time and it was the perfect way to celebrate Coco´s birthday.
